A single question can change the course of a life. After years of sharing my story of vision loss, survival, and healing, a live coaching demo with mentor coach Cody Williams brought my calling into sharp relief: build coaching and community that help blind and visually impaired people live with independence, confidence, and purpose.

We trace how genuine coaching—curious questions, deep listening, zero judgment—creates clarity without giving advice. I map the three pillars at the center of this mission: independent living skills that make daily life workable and dignified, mobility and travel confidence that turn anxiety into freedom of movement, and communication and accessibility that equip you to self‑advocate at work, school, and home. Along the way, we discuss practical tools such as canes, screen readers, OCR apps, and routines, as well as the inner work of naming fear, reclaiming agency, and trusting that difference can still be beautiful.

This chapter isn’t just about my next step; it’s an open door. We’re keeping the podcast as a hub for stories, resources, and faith‑centered hope while expanding into one‑to‑one coaching and a supportive network for individuals, families, and professionals. If you’re losing sight, you are not alone. If you love someone who is, you deserve support too. And if you’re a practitioner or advocate, let’s partner to shorten the distance between “I’m overwhelmed” and “I’ve got this.”

Ready to walk together? Join the community, share this episode with someone who needs it, and leave a review to help others find support. Subscribe for new stories and practical guidance, and message me if coaching sounds right for you. Your story still holds purpose, joy, and possibility—and we’ll prove it, one step at a time.

This is an introductory audio segment for a show or podcast titled "Life Beyond the Sight of Darkness." The host, Robert B., warmly welcomes listeners and shares his mission: to support people navigating vision loss or trauma by helping them find hope, purpose, and confidence. The tone is friendly and encouraging, emphasizing that no one should have to face darkness alone. The segment ends with an inviting call to action: "Grab your Joe and let's go."

I know exactly the sound you mean. That "shimmering" ambient electric guitar, soft organ pads, and a gentle piano that just breathes with the speaker. It’s that deeply spiritual, reflective atmosphere that invites people in. I’ve dialed in that specific Altar Call feel for you. How does this one resonate?

00:00:29.980 --> 00:00:33.259
What happens when God clarifies a calling you've been carrying for years?

00:00:33.500 --> 00:00:36.619
What happens when your vision suddenly comes into focus?

00:00:36.780 --> 00:00:39.980
What happens when you realize the podcast was just the beginning?

00:00:40.219 --> 00:00:42.460
Today's episode is going to be quite different.

00:00:42.620 --> 00:00:44.700
Today I'm not just telling you my story.

00:00:44.859 --> 00:00:46.939
Today I'm inviting you into the mission.

00:00:47.100 --> 00:00:50.700
If you've been with me through all nine episodes, you know my story.

00:00:50.939 --> 00:01:07.019
You've walked with me through being born with visual impairment, childhood trauma and homelessness, nearly dying from heart disease, divorce and finding real love, and the reconciliation with my father that brought everything full circle.

00:01:07.260 --> 00:01:12.939
But what I haven't told you yet is what comes next, because this podcast is just the beginning.

00:01:13.099 --> 00:01:21.340
Today I want to share with you a moment that changed everything, a coaching session that brought clarity to a calling I've been carrying my whole life.

00:01:21.420 --> 00:01:26.140
And I want to invite you, yes, you, to be part of what God is building.

00:01:26.459 --> 00:01:28.060
So grab your coffee, friend.

00:01:28.219 --> 00:01:29.420
This one's about the future.

00:01:29.579 --> 00:01:30.140
Let's go.

00:01:30.379 --> 00:01:38.060
A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to participate in a live coaching demonstration with a mentor coach named Cody Williams.

00:01:38.219 --> 00:01:41.900
I volunteered to be the client, and honestly, I didn't know what to expect.

00:01:41.980 --> 00:01:44.140
But what happened in that session changed everything.

00:01:44.299 --> 00:01:45.900
Cody asked me a simple question.

00:01:46.060 --> 00:01:47.900
What would you like to be coached on today?

00:01:48.060 --> 00:01:51.340
And I shared with him what's been burning in my heart for years.

00:01:51.579 --> 00:01:55.180
I want to support blind and visually impaired individuals.

00:01:55.340 --> 00:01:59.660
I want to walk alongside people who are newly blind or losing their sight.

00:01:59.820 --> 00:02:05.020
I want to help them navigate the emotional, practical, and spiritual challenges of blindness.

00:02:05.180 --> 00:02:11.020
Not with quick fixes, not with advice, but with long term support, with someone who understands, with hope.

00:02:11.180 --> 00:02:16.060
As Cody asked questions, really good deep questions, something started to happen.

00:02:16.219 --> 00:02:21.180
My vision, which had been swirling around in my head for years, started to crystallize.

00:02:21.340 --> 00:02:25.500
He asked me, a year from now, how would you like to be impacting people's lives?

00:02:25.659 --> 00:02:30.539
And I said, I want to help them live independently, confidently, with purpose.

00:02:30.780 --> 00:02:33.979
I want them to know that blindness doesn't mean their life is over.

00:02:34.219 --> 00:02:38.459
It means their life is different, and different can still be beautiful.

00:02:38.780 --> 00:02:43.099
He asked, What are two or three skills that would make the biggest difference?

00:02:43.340 --> 00:02:45.579
And suddenly I could see it clearly.

00:02:45.899 --> 00:02:52.139
Three core areas one, independent living skills, learning to navigate daily life with confidence.

00:02:52.459 --> 00:02:58.780
Two, mobility and travel confidence, moving through the world safely and independently.

00:02:59.099 --> 00:03:07.819
Three communication and accessibility, expressing needs, building relationships, advocating for yourself.

00:03:08.459 --> 00:03:11.819
There it was, clear as day, the roadmap I'd been searching for.

00:03:11.979 --> 00:03:13.579
But here's what blew my mind.

00:03:13.819 --> 00:03:18.699
Cody didn't tell me any of this, he didn't give me advice, he didn't hand me a plan.

00:03:18.939 --> 00:03:20.060
He just asked questions.

00:03:20.299 --> 00:03:27.579
He listened, he reflected back what he heard, and in that space, that safe, curious, compassionate space, I found my own clarity.

00:03:27.739 --> 00:03:30.299
That's when I realized this is what I'm called to do.

00:03:30.539 --> 00:03:34.699
Not just tell my story through a podcast, but walk alongside people.

00:03:34.939 --> 00:03:42.219
Listen to them, ask them questions, help them discover their own strength, their own solutions, their own path forward.

00:03:42.539 --> 00:03:44.539
Coaching is the vehicle for my calling.

00:03:44.780 --> 00:03:46.699
Friend, can I tell you something I've learned?

00:03:46.939 --> 00:03:48.699
People don't need to be told what to do.

00:03:48.859 --> 00:03:49.899
They need to be heard.

00:03:50.060 --> 00:03:56.139
When we truly listen, deeply, fully, without judgment, people reveal their fears, their struggles, and their strength.

00:03:56.299 --> 00:04:00.619
They don't need us to fix them, they need us to see them, and they don't need us to have all the answers.

00:04:00.699 --> 00:04:03.179
They need us to believe they can find their own answers.

00:04:03.340 --> 00:04:10.060
And when we create that space, magic happens, clarity comes, confidence grows, movement begins.

00:04:10.299 --> 00:04:16.540
That's the power of coaching, and that's what I want to offer to the blind and visually impaired community.

00:04:16.780 --> 00:04:20.060
Let me share with you the philosophy that will guide this work.

00:04:20.220 --> 00:04:26.459
I believe people living with blindness or vision loss already carry strength, wisdom, and resilience within them.

00:04:26.620 --> 00:04:35.740
My role as a coach is not to fix, advise, or direct, but to walk alongside, listen deeply, and create space for clarity, confidence, and forward movement.

00:04:35.980 --> 00:04:43.420
Coaching is about empowering individuals to rediscover independence, build resilience, and live meaningful lives, one step at a time.

00:04:43.660 --> 00:04:47.180
Through compassion, faith, and intentional listening.

00:04:47.340 --> 00:04:54.700
I help clients navigate challenges, uncover their own solutions, and move forward with purpose and hope.

00:04:54.939 --> 00:04:55.500
That's it.

00:04:55.660 --> 00:04:57.500
That's the heart of what I'm building.

00:04:57.660 --> 00:05:02.860
Not a program that tells you what to do, but a partnership that helps you discover who you can become.

00:05:03.100 --> 00:05:08.860
Through this work, both the podcast and my coaching, I focus on three core areas.

00:05:09.180 --> 00:05:18.300
One, independent living, learning to navigate daily life with confidence, cooking, cleaning, managing your home, using adaptive technology, building routines that work for you.

00:05:18.460 --> 00:05:22.620
You don't need sight to live independently, you just need the right support and tools.

00:05:22.860 --> 00:05:23.180
2.

00:05:23.420 --> 00:05:24.860
Mobility and travel.

00:05:25.100 --> 00:05:27.580
Moving through the world safely and independently.

00:05:27.740 --> 00:05:35.420
Using a cane, navigating public transportation, learning spatial awareness, building confidence to go places on your own.

00:05:35.660 --> 00:05:38.939
Mobility is freedom, and freedom is possible.

00:05:39.180 --> 00:05:39.660
3.

00:05:39.900 --> 00:05:51.180
Communication and accessibility, expressing your needs, building relationships, advocating for yourself in work, school, and social settings, using assistive technology to stay connected.

00:05:51.420 --> 00:05:53.819
Your voice matters, and you deserve to be heard.

00:05:53.900 --> 00:05:58.780
If you're blind or visually impaired and listening to this right now, I want you to hear me.

00:05:58.939 --> 00:06:03.740
Life without sight still holds purpose, still holds joy, still holds a possibility.

00:06:03.900 --> 00:06:07.660
Losing your sight or being born without it doesn't mean losing your life.

00:06:07.819 --> 00:06:11.660
It means learning a new way to live, and you don't have to figure it out alone.

00:06:11.900 --> 00:06:15.340
I'm here, this community is here, and we're going to walk through it together.

00:06:15.500 --> 00:06:18.379
So what does this mean for life beyond the sight of darkness?

00:06:18.620 --> 00:06:20.060
The podcast continues.

00:06:20.300 --> 00:06:29.100
We're going to keep sharing stories, interviews with blind and visually impaired individuals, resources, encouragement, faith-centered hope.

00:06:29.340 --> 00:06:39.020
But we're also expanding into coaching, one-on-one support for people who want personalized guidance, someone to walk with them through the challenges, someone who understands.

00:06:39.259 --> 00:06:48.540
We're building a community, a place where blind and visually impaired individuals and their families can connect, encourage each other, share resources, and find hope.

00:06:48.700 --> 00:06:50.379
And we're trusting God's provision.

00:06:50.540 --> 00:06:59.900
I'll be honest, there are financial challenges, there's a lot to learn, but I'm committed day by day, step by step, trusting that God will provide what's needed when it's needed.

00:07:00.060 --> 00:07:01.180
Here's where I need you.

00:07:01.340 --> 00:07:05.100
If you're blind or visually impaired and you need support, reach out.

00:07:05.259 --> 00:07:05.900
Let's talk.

00:07:06.140 --> 00:07:07.900
Let's see if coaching is right for you.

00:07:08.060 --> 00:07:09.819
Let's walk this journey together, eh?

00:07:09.980 --> 00:07:12.860
If you're a family member of someone losing their sight, reach out.

00:07:13.020 --> 00:07:14.220
You need support too.

00:07:14.379 --> 00:07:17.020
Watching someone you love lose their vision is hard.

00:07:17.100 --> 00:07:18.540
Let's navigate it together.

00:07:18.700 --> 00:07:22.620
If you're a professional working with the blind community, let's connect.

00:07:22.780 --> 00:07:24.140
I'm learning, I'm growing.

00:07:24.220 --> 00:07:30.379
I want to partner with experts, organizations, and advocates who are already doing this work well.

00:07:30.540 --> 00:07:33.100
If you just want to be part of the community, join us.

00:07:33.420 --> 00:07:38.060
Facebook group, email list, Instagram, wherever you are, we want you here.

00:07:38.220 --> 00:07:40.620
Because no one should walk through darkness alone.

00:07:40.780 --> 00:07:42.939
Please allow me to pray over this new chapter.

00:07:43.100 --> 00:07:45.259
Father God, thank you for the clarity.

00:07:45.420 --> 00:07:50.220
Thank you for the coaching session with Cody that brought focus to what you've been building in me for years.

00:07:50.460 --> 00:07:57.500
Thank you for this calling to walk alongside blind and visually impaired individuals, to offer hope, to create space for growth.

00:07:57.740 --> 00:07:59.819
I don't have it all figured out, Lord.

00:08:00.060 --> 00:08:01.180
But I trust you.

00:08:01.420 --> 00:08:02.780
Provide what's needed.

00:08:03.100 --> 00:08:04.060
Open doors.

00:08:04.300 --> 00:08:05.980
Connect me with the right people.

00:08:06.379 --> 00:08:08.540
Use this work for your glory.

00:08:08.860 --> 00:08:13.500
For everyone listening who is blind or losing their sight, remind them they are not alone.

00:08:13.660 --> 00:08:16.060
You see them, you're with them, and there is hope.

00:08:16.220 --> 00:08:22.060
Bless this ministry, bless this community, bless everyone who joins us on this journey, in Jesus' name, Amen.

00:08:22.220 --> 00:08:26.700
Proverbs twenty nine eighteen says, Where there is no vision, the people perish.

00:08:26.939 --> 00:08:28.780
But friend, we have vision.

00:08:28.939 --> 00:08:32.700
Not physical vision but spiritual vision, a vision for what's possible.

00:08:32.939 --> 00:08:37.659
A vision for independence, for confidence, for purpose, for hope.

00:08:37.899 --> 00:08:40.139
And with that vision we will thrive.

00:08:40.460 --> 00:08:47.100

And thank you for what you're building through this ministry.

00:09:44.620 --> 00:09:46.220
In Jesus' name, Amen.

00:09:46.379 --> 00:09:49.259
I firmly believe that no one should walk through darkness alone.

00:09:49.420 --> 00:09:51.100
And friend, you don't have to.

00:09:51.259 --> 00:09:52.220
Let's walk together.
